Why Worship a Guru?

Why Worship a Guru?

The spirit of the festival Diwali dwells in lighting diyas (earthen lamps), which symbolises the inner awakening or enlightenment. The spirit of the festival of colours i.e. Holi, lies in spreading harmony. The spirit of Christmas lies in sharing be it gifts or heartfelt wishes for others. The spirit of Eid lies in charity. Similarly, the spirit of the most auspicious festival for all disciples across the world i.e. Guru Purnima or Guru Puja lies in expressing the purest and reverential feelings of love and gratitude towards the Guru. Also, this festival marks the dawn of a spiritual new year where disciples embark upon with new enthusiasm, resolutions and rejuvenated spirits on the path of devotion.
The festival finds its origin in the era of the great sage Ved Vyasa. It is celebrated every year on Ashadh Punam, the day this legendary figure was born, who classified the four Vedas, wrote 18 Puranas, the Brahm Sutras and uttered Mahabharata, which was penned by Lord Ganesha Himself. Through his intense literary classification and compositions of the great epics and scriptures, he opened the portals of the esoteric world of spirituality for the inquisitives. He also, following the eternal Vedic regime, initiated his disciples into the eternal science of Brahm Gyan. In the honour of such divine personage and to worship the Perfect Master or the Sadguru of the time, who by bestowing the same eternal knowledge of Brahm Gyan ushers the disciple towards his ultimate blissful destination, this festival is celebrated with great exuberance and devotion.
Verily, worshipping has been equated with Gods and deities residing in the heavenly abode. Most of us all through our lives have seen our elders or have ourselves bowed in front of their immortal power. Why then this tradition of worshipping someone with a physical garb, living within the brackets of the mortal world surfaced in the annals of our glorious history? In other words, why do we worship a Guru?
A bird's eye view of all the Vedas, scriptures and texts of wisdom would easily provide us with the fact that the Guru is the ultimate power in both worlds. He is the Living GOD– Generator, Operator and Destroyer of the life of a disciple. He amalgamates in himself all the three roles i.e. the role of a creator, protector and exterminator for his disciples. Therefore, in our Vedic tradition we worship the Guru before anyone else.
Let's analyse all the three roles of a Guru on the basis of the scriptural, psychological and historical evidences.

THE ROLE OF A CREATOR

As per the Vedic wisdom and our sages, there are two births of a human being. The first one is through his mother's womb and the second one is through the spiritual womb of his Guru.
Our Vedas elucidate the same–
Aacharya Upanyamano Brahmcharinam
Krunute Garbhmanth

(Atrahva Veda- 11:3:5:3)
Meaning, Acharya (Guru) at the time of Upanayan Sanskaar (bestowing Brahm Gyan) bears his disciple in his spiritual womb.
Just as a new life gets initiated in the womb of a mother, similarly, the initiation of a disciple into Brahm Gyan under the patronage of a Sadguru marks his becoming a Dwij that is 'being born again'. This second birth is considered much more glorified and superior than his first birth. Reason being, the first birth culminates in the mortuary whereas the second birth culminates in eternity. Also, the second birth sets him free from the vicious cycle of transmigration and eventually leads him to reside in the ultimate bliss. Moreover, as after taking birth from the mother's womb we enter this mortal world, similarly, after being born through the spiritual womb of a Guru, we enter the inner-immortal world where we come face to face with the wonderful reign of the Supreme Being. Jesus Christ also proclaimed– “Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
When the mother of cowherd Chandragupta confronted Acharya Chanakya, who wanted to take her son along with him to the University of Takshashila, she said– 'You can't take my son; I have given birth to him. I bore him in my womb for nine months. He is my dream.' Acharya Chanakya humbly replied– 'I have done his Upanayan Sanskaar (bestowed him with Brahm Gyan). I too have borne him in my spiritual womb. He might be a dream for you, but only I can translate that dream into reality. You have given birth to a probability, but only under my spiritual wings it will become a possibility.' History stands witness how an ordinary boy who wandered on the streets as a cowherd, under the patronage of Acharya Chanakya was transformed into the King of the Kings– Chandragupta Maurya, who unified the nation and established the kingdom of righteousness.
Hence, a Guru like a spiritual mother not just brings forth his disciple in the cosmic world of eternity, but also brings out the best in him.

THE ROLE OF A PROTECTOR

After giving birth, a mother is very protective about her child especially when he is an infant. She always stays close to her child, guards him and watches over him. Similarly, a Guru, after initiating the disciple into the realm of the spiritual world does not abandon him. Rather, he always stays close to him. A disciple, who abides by all the commandments of his Guru, always feels his presence around him. He feels an all-time inner-connection with his Guru, which eventually strengthens with time. However, a mother can protect and guard her child only in this life; but a Guru is such a protector who shields and guards his disciple even beyond life. An incident from the life of Lahiri Mahashya when he met his Guru Mahavtari Babaji for the first time, in a cave on the Dronagiri Mountain, verily stands evidence to this.
When Mahavtari Baba gently struck on Lahiri's forehead, he retrieved everything about his previous birth. He writes, “…the saint approached and struck me gently on the forehead. At his magnetic touch, a wondrous current swept through my brain, releasing the sweet seed-memories of my previous life. 'I remember!' My voice was half-choked with joyous sobs. 'You are my guru Babaji, who has belonged to me always! Scenes of the past arise vividly in my mind; here in this cave I spent many years of my last incarnation!' As ineffable recollections overwhelmed me, I tearfully embraced my master's feet. 'For more than three decades I have waited for you here– waited for you to return to me!' Babaji's voice rang with celestial love. 'You slipped away and vanished into the tumultuous waves of life beyond death. The magic wand of your karma touched you, and you were gone! Though you lost sight of me, never did I lose sight of you! I pursued you over the luminescent astral sea where the glorious angels sail. Through gloom, storm, upheaval, and light I followed you, like a mother bird guarding her young. As you lived out your human term of womb-life, and emerged a babe, my eye was ever on you. When you covered your tiny form in the lotus posture under the Nadia sands in your childhood, I was invisibly present! Patiently, month after month, year after year, I have watched over you, waiting for this perfect day. Now you are with me!’
Moreover, in the role of a protector, a Guru also shields his disciple at the psychological and emotional levels. A Guru, with his pure love and faith, gives his disciple a strong foundational support, upon which a disciple resolutely treads the path of his life while making the correct decisions. His divine love shields him from the negative effects of the feigned material love of the world.
Swami Vivekananda often quoted– '…ever since our first meeting, it was the Master (Ramakrishna Paramhansa) alone who had faith in me– no one else, not even my own mother and brothers. That faith and that love of his have bound me to him forever. The Master was the only one who knew how to love and who really loved. Worldly people only feign love to gratify their own self-interest.'
Indeed, it is the selfless love and prowess of a Perfect Master, who as a divine protector guides and shields his disciple (at all the three levels– physical, psychological and spiritual) from all impending dangers.

THE ROLE OF AN EXTERMINATOR

Lord Shiva in the Vedic texts has been referred to as the God of destruction. It is not mere destruction but 'constructive destruction'. To understand the concept of constructive destruction, in contemporary parlance, we may cite an example of personal computers. With the arrival of personal computers, the economy significantly profited without much economic upheaval. It raised the productivity and ushered in significant value for many. But at the same time, computers killed the market for typewriters. Typewriters became obsolete and organisations investing in them certainly lost out. Similarly, the market for all the small gadgets– like, MP3 players, point-and-shoot cameras, wrist watches, voice recorders and calculators got swallowed by all-in-one efficient Smartphones. For the development and growth, constructive destruction, i.e. eradication of smaller insignificant things holds great importance in the business world.
In the spiritual world as well, constructive destruction is done by the Guru in the life of his disciple. Our scriptures proclaim, 'Gururdevo Maheshwaraha'– A Guru like Lord Shiva brings in constructive destruction in the life of his disciple. For his growth and development, he too exterminates and eradicates all the obsolete, redundant and unwanted thoughts from his mind and ushers him towards a more significant and supreme goal of his life. This constructive destruction facilitates the self-development of a disciple, which eventually helps him climb the ladder to success in life.
A Guru characteristically plays the role of a Generator, Operator and Destroyer (GOD) for his disciple and leads him all the way to eternity from mortality. Hence, worshipping the Guru holds a great importance in the life of a disciple. Therefore, we being fortunate to be the disciples of the Perfect Spiritual Master of the time, H.H. Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, let us celebrate this most auspicious festival with great enthusiasm and devotion.

EASY TWISTS AND TURNS FOR WORKPLACE

In this modern, corporate age, 75% of the day is spent in the offices doing sedentary work. People qho have a sedentary lifestyle are jeopardising their health and are vulnerable to serious killer diseases like diabetes, cardiac arreat, etc. In such a scenario, taking short breaks by getting up from your desk and making small movements  can prove to be a wonderful resort in sustaining serenity and physical health. Research has indicated that periodic workplace stretching can subjugate physical problems by up to 72%. Trifle exercise on a daily basis can help one relax muscles and relieve stress to quite an extent both physically and mentally. ...
According to WHO, around 60 to 85% of people in the world, from both developed as well as developing countries, lead sedentary lifestyles. Neck and shoulder pain are accompanied free when one has a job that demands sitting all through the day. This is the very reason that the U.S Department of Health an Human Services affirms that 8 in 10 Americans are most likely to experience lower back pain at some point in their lives. As per the figures released by the UK statistics Authority, in 2014, due to back problem, nearly 4.2 million working days were lost by workers aged 50-64, 1.89 million days by those between 25-34, and 3.86 million by adults in the age bracket 35-49, owing to sedentary lifestyle. As a matter of fact, the similar situation replicates almost all round the globe.
It is recommended that stretching exercises should be included in the day to day routine. As a matter of fact, they can be easily performed while on the job, without any special break. Some such desk exercises are:
1. Castle in the air:

Gently pull each elbow to the opposite side over the head. This will provide relief to the upper back and neck area and provide refreshment to the act of continuously staring at your workstation. This small punch helps you stay motivated.
2. ...

DJJS Ram Katha, Guided the Path to Righteousness

 RAM KATHA

Lord Ram’s entire persona inspires to follow the righteousness as each part of his character puts him in the category of an idol. He was not only the epitome of an ideal man, a son, a brother, a friend, a husband, a father and a king but also a veteran manager. In words of HIS Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj ji, Lord Ram is Right Action Man (RAM). According to Maharaj Ji, a true devotee, who is always following his master’s commands, can imbibe the invaluable qualities of Ram. Just like Vibhishana, who stood for righteousness in spite of the Ravana’s (his brother) numerous bad words, a true disciple’s faith never wavers.
In order to encourage congregators towards righteousness and to make them understand the supreme philosophy of Lord Ram, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS)- a non- government, non-profit and a leading spiritual organization, head and founded by His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, conducted a seven days program of Shri Ram Katha from May 8th -14th,2016, at Latur, Maharashtra.
The program initiated with the devotional prayer at the lotus feet of Lord Ram. DJJS extended warm welcome to all guests, preachers, volunteers and congregators. Then after, a series of melodious bhajans composed with words of wisdom and tuned with extreme devotion, just made people engaged in the divinity of environment.
The spiritual discourser of the program- Sadhvi Praveena Bharti Ji, disciple of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, cited many profound examples of Lord Ram’s actions and words. A devotee with traits of unshakable faith, extreme patience, perseverance, complete devotion and discipline, can definitely reach to the Almighty. Just like, Vibhishana was firm and patient to the core even after facing the wrath of his brother Ravana, was ready to accept the death but never let his faith waver. He even sacrificed his mighty family. To such exceptional devotees, Lord Smiles and say-“I am extremely pleased to have you as my devotee; your dedication is the most precious. By saving you from negativities, I not only serve my duties, but also take the responsibility of saving individuals with great values.”
Sadhvi Ji also stated that to reach at the pinnacle of righteousness and devotion, one needs to have divine knowledge and grace of a perfect master since these traits are not easy to acquire or imbibe. DJJS, along with spreading the message, also provides the technique of acquiring the right path which is ‘Brahm Gyan’. Many devotees learnt this technique, thereby taking first step to the divinity.

5 Ways to Recharge Your Life

5 Ways to Recharge Your Life

You are all set to take the next step in the ladder of your life. The go-getter hidden inside you urges you to proceed and undertake a challenging task. But, all of a sudden, you find yourself entrapped in adverse circumstances. This is what happens with most of those who dare to accept the challenge, but can’t keep it due to their wavering belief and commitment.
What pulls you back? Is it your stereotyped thought-pattern or your negative emotions? Your reluctance to forget your past deeds or any other bitter experience of life might be the reason behind your degrading performance. All in all, motivation is the driving force behind your prompt actions to tackle burning issues that surface in the course of your life. But when this force is lost, you lose the momentum that keeps you going.
The Founder and Head of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS), His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, often says that a person needs to establish a connection with his inner self in order to attain peace and happiness. His teachings have emerged as the guiding path for innumerable devotees who have realized happiness not by finding it outside, but by exploring their inner self. Though this technique remains the foremost medium of transformation, there are many other ways to break free and raise yourself from the humdrum of life.
So, here we bring to you five simple ways to revive your zeal and kick-off YOUR JOURNEY TO A NEW YOU.
  • Take a journey inside – Every morning brings a fresh start of the day. So, make it a habit to enrich this beginning with a self-analysis.  Take out just 15 minutes time and leave your mobile phone to stay free. Relax and analyze yourself. Ask yourself how you are going to make this day special. Be it at home or at workplace, your liveliness and cheerful attitude will influence the people around you. Though you are entrapped by fallouts or arguments, try to resolve them without holding grudges.
  • Rejuvenate your senses – Well, workout is a crucial ingredient of your time table. Don’t forget to go for a morning walk or you can even exercise or perform aerobics or yoga at home or at the terrace. The purpose is to get rid of mental weariness and shun the burden of useless thoughts that you might have carried through previous days. Just chill with new morning and refresh yourself completely. This is a trigger to your whole day.
  • Participate in activities – Are you an introvert? No worries. Do away with your reserved attitude. Go out, meet people and participate in different sorts of activities that are organized by your society welfare associations. You can spearhead programs or drives on special days like World Environment Day, thereby generating awareness on a social issue. Get active even at your workplace and be a part of the interactions. Great ideas like organizing games every Friday with delightful snacking make your workplace interesting.
  • Unveil your passion – No doubt, you might not have pursued your hobby or a talent gifted by god. Carry out an introspection and discover what you feel about it now. Don’t let your passion go even if you are engrossed in your work schedule. Take out some time like on weekends and develop your talent like taking Photography classes if you like to capture special moments in your camera.
  • Be a medium of change – While following your routine schedule, devote some time to noble causes and get associated with an NGO. Your youthfulness, your enthusiasm, your original ideas can be the harbinger of a better tomorrow for under-privileged sections of the society that need your support and contribution.
Emphasizing the power of youth, Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji always says, “Youth have tremendous potential. But they need guidance to channelize it in the right direction and become socially and morally responsible citizens of their nation.”
It is indeed a thought-provoking remark by this spiritual personality who is the source of inspiration for numerous youngsters today. Boasting good profiles, those youngsters have witnessed a sea change in their personality and remain at the forefront of all the social programs of DJJS.
Well, we had a quick sneak peek at easy ideas to recharge your life and sustain the momentum within. You struggle day and night to actualize or implement your plans and sometimes, you get victimized by boredom, owing to the monotony of  your routine schedule. Nevertheless, it’s up to you whether you want to sit back or you step up to revitalize your mind, body and soul.

Shiv Katha

Shiv Katha

Lead us from ignorance to truth; Lead us from darkness to light; Lead us from death to deathlessness.

This prayer from the Holy Scriptures has been recited in every era. Knowingly or unknowingly, every heart looks for peace and tranquility at the end of day. All the materialistic fixtures of life do not provide the solution to the hollowness that one feels. Though society’s condition is grim today, good news is that solution is available and that too permanent.

To disperse the light of Lord everywhere in spite of ignorance of malicious desires, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) organized an insightful Shiv Katha. With the everlasting grace of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji (convener and head of DJJS), the Katha was organized from April 22nd to April 26th, 2016 in the historic city of Ludhiana, Punjab. Katha orator, Sadhvi Tripada Bharti Ji, gleamed light on the in-depth meanings of Lord Shiva’s holy attire as well as each of HIS divine plays featured in our Holy Scriptures.

Sadhvi Ji further explained that to take away pain and suffering, to rid the humans of vices, and to destroy all evils, Lord Shiva works day and night. He has been termed as ‘Triumbakam’, the one with 3 eyes. He is known to epitomize spiritual meaning of the third eye - the divine eye. According to the scriptures, all humans possess the third eye, scientifically known as the pineal gland. Once the third eye is awakened, an individual experiences the light and the true form of Lord Shiva within.

In addition to learning about Lord’s exterior look, the attendees of the katha also acquired information on how to awaken the third eye and be one with the Lord. His Holiness is continuously imparting Divine Knowledge, the scientific technique of experiencing Lord, Brahm Gyan. It is the ancient method of entrance to the inner realm of everlasting peace, tranquility, and equanimity.

Salutes to the Motherhood!

A mother who always cares,
A mother who’s always there...
A mother who always stays...
So blessed God made this mother of mine!
May 8, 2016… A day dedicated to the mothers! Let’s celebrate this day by remembering some of the great mothers of the past…
She has nurtured the icons of loyalty!
It was the time when China was invaded from the north…The army in China was commanded by General Yue Fei. Undoubtedly, the situation demanded of him to show up his real strength and valour for the country. However, in those crucial moments, Yue Fei was trapped in a dilemma. On one end, it was the question of the life of his elderly mother, who was severely ill. On the other hand, his country’s freedom was at stake…He simply sat with watery eyes, looking at his loving mother in the state of utter helplessness. The mother smiled. She asked Yue to take off his shirt…However, without questioning, he handed his shirt to her. Mu, Yue’s mother, took her sewing needle and tattooed in big and bold letters these four Chinese words on it…
She has gifted this world with the great philosophers of the time!
This relates to the Fourth Century B.C. There was a child named Mencius, who was born in real challenging situations. When he stepped on this earth, he lost the shelter of his father. His mother, Zhang…In those trying times, she could manage to arrange for a dwelling near a cemetery...To her astonishment, Zhang noticed that her little son started imitating the voices of processions. This indeed became a cause of worry for her. There was no other way to rescue her son than looking for another house…She thus decided to make a move for the third time, despite all difficulties in making arrangements for the money. This time, she was successful in getting a house, which was adjacent to a school. Soon Zhang observed her son being impacted positively by the surroundings. Mencius was seen imitating the scholars...Mencius grew to become one of the greatest philosophers of China…There exists a Chinese idiom reflecting her mother commendable role in the making of Mencius, which says...
She has set the model of world “brotherhood”!...
She has been the inspiration to tread the path to reach the Supreme!...
She is the real power behind moulding the future of her child!...
What bold letters were tattooed by Mu, Yue’s mother...which Chinese idiom reflects the role of making Mencius.. How mother plays above great roles… To celebrate ‘Mother’s Day’ in true sense and in honor to all the mothers, commemorating such great role she plays in the making of a child, read the complete article in May'16 edition of English Akhand Gyan Monthly Magazine.

See God – Where, How, Why

See God – Where, How, Why

Most of us know it too well that abiding peace lies in the lotus feet of the Almighty; even then we are disturbed! Why? Very often, we beseech Him and somewhere deep within we have a constant quest to know Him. But even then we don’t find Him and consequently true happiness and peace! Why? Simply because we do not search for God where He actually dwells.
To elucidate the same concept, Saint Rabiya once did a divine sport. She started searching for something outside her cottage. In the meantime, two people walked past her cottage and seeing Rabiya tensed, asked her for the reason. Rabiya promptly answered, ‘Oh Sons, my needle is lost. Will you help me in finding that?’ Out of respect for her elderly age, these two men also started helping Rabiya in her search. Within no time, dozens of other villagers also gathered to aid her in her mission to search the needle. However, the desired result was not forthcoming. Efforts proved futile. Finally, an irritated villager inquired Rabiya- ‘Mother, just try to recall the spot your needle exactly fell?’ Rabiya answered that needle fell inside her cottage. The villagers were shocked! As if knocked down with a feather! They revolted and questioned why then she was making them look for the needle outside? Rabiya innocently reasoned that it was dark inside. To this, the villagers laughed and explained that if it is dark, then why not light up a candle or a lamp? ‘But O old Mother! The needle can be found only at that spot where it actually got lost.’ Grabbing the right opportunity, Rabiya remarked that this was the fact she wanted everyone to understand regarding God too. She reasoned – ‘You all are searching for God outside, in various temples, pilgrimages, or religious sites; whereas He, verily, dwells within the innermost chamber of your being. And, if it is dark there, then enlighten it with the lamp of divine knowledge. But you can find His glorious presence only where it actually is, i.e., in your own Heart or Self.’
However, in this context, theists or believers often reason that God is omnipresent. He does not only reside within but everywhere, in each and every atom of the Universe. Then, why could He be attained only from within? This logic really sounds reasonable. However, let’s try to recognise the other side of this as well through an example. We know that water is everywhere- below the ground where we might be sitting or in the air we are breathing in (in vaporised form). However, when we feel thirsty, can we drink water just by waving our hands in air? No! One can only drink water from its known visible source like the tap, well, river, etc. Likewise, God, undoubtedly, is present everywhere, but His perception and realization becomes a viable proposition only by entering the beatific portal of our inner consciousness, its specific source, and, for sure, by no other outer means.
There are two types of hearts- the Physical and Spiritual hearts. The physical heart is the one that is located under our chest, beats and circulates blood constantly throughout the body. The spiritual heart is positioned at the center of the forehead, right between the eyebrows. According to authentic scriptures and renowned Masters, God resides in this spiritual heart. Whosoever has beheld His effulgent face has attained it in the immaculate mirror of this heart alone. However, to accomplish this, another inevitable requisite is- Divine Eye! Only this eye capacitates us to gaze and concentrate on the divine realms of the spiritual heart. The two physical eyes we possess have a range limited only to the material world. To experience and behold the Divine and supra-physical visions within, we certainly need this Divine Eye.
The Divine Eye has been referred to by various synonyms in different holy texts, viz, Shiva’s Eye (shiva netra), Third Eye, Spiritual Door, Single Eye, etc. Although the Divine Eye exists very much with each individual, but it cannot reveal the face of God unless the Perfect Master imparts Divine Knowledge and thereby activates this Eye. This activation sets in motion the seeker’s spiritual journey into the Inner World. All through this, he experiences celestial visions in the form of radiant light or entities and other infinite extraterrestrial sights within his inner consciousness. The same has been advocated by the Bible (Luke 11; 34) – ‘When thine eye is single, thy whole body shall be full of light.’ Meaning thereby, when your Single Eye becomes active, Divine Light fills up your inner domains. Another holy text- Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (page 922) mentions that our bodily eyes are blind in regard to seeing God. God cannot even be glanced at with them. Only when we seek the tutelage of a Perfect Master and when the Divine Eye is activated, we can clearly see His Infinite and indescribable glory- ‘Kahe Nanak ih netra andh se, Satguru miliye dib drishti hoye.’
However, some logicians today also reason that the Lord cannot be seen at all. He is not the subject of perception. He can only be felt like air. So, one can merely enjoy His presence. At the most, one can pray and worship to strengthen this consoling and reassuring sensation of Him being around. But, dear readers, if we contemplate sincerely, we will find that this notion has no valid ground. Only a blind person claims that the sun cannot be seen. For him, its golden rays are nothing but moonshine. He can only feel its warmth. So, he stubbornly sticks to his notion that sun is only to be felt, not seen. However, an eyed person knows that this assumption is blatantly wrong. It is merely a blasphemy resulting from blindness. Once the blindness is cured, the assumption will itself be proved wrong as the very sun would be seen to shine forth brightly. Likewise, seers and divine-eyed devotees invoke us to beseech the shelter of a spiritual Master, the God-ordained eye-surgeon, who can bless us with the Divine eye. With this restoration, Divine Light amounting to thousands of suns will irradiate forth, thereby dissolving the disbelief of the spiritually blind.
Another question, often voiced in this regard is- “What is the advantage of seeing God?” The answer is derivative of the aforesaid analogy itself. Remember- a blind person can undoubtedly sustain himself; however, he can never lead a sound life. On a similar note, a spiritually blind man may survive well in the world. However, being surrounded by the darkness of ignorance, he cannot lead his corporeal life fully, leave aside the spiritual life. He would remain distraught, dependent, stagger, and always sing the tunes of life at a lower note. To amplify these notes and lend the life its due colour and beauty, suspension of the dark period of ignorance is a must. For this to ensue, spiritual knowledge and hence the Divine Eye is more than a must. This Eye sees and foresees discriminately the path of life and the events occurring on it. Contentment, upliftment, and, hence, happiness follow duly. Is it not an advantageous, profitable deal? In fact, it’s a priceless one!

Can commitment to God wait

Consciously or unconsciously, all seem to maintain a list of priorities in life. Priorities differ from person to person. The human psyche tends to play a major role in the determination of priorities. From a pragmatic viewpoint, it is a person’s state of mind that ultimately decides his/her inclination or proclivity for an object. From a religious standpoint, it is the station of life one is in which goes on to decide a person’s priorities in life.

Regardless of these commonly held beliefs, it is an eternally proven fact that realization of God should top the list of priorities in life. The argument advanced in favour of attainment of God being the first priority is two-fold.

Firstly, everything mundane is ephemeral. Nothing ever accompanies one to the life hereafter. Secondly, with God being the source and origin of everyone, we should necessarily strive to attain Him and merge our individual consciousness into His cosmic consciousness. If ignored, the dreadful cycle of birth, death, and rebirth will go on ceaselessly with associated pain and suffering.

Despite the choice being so obvious, the majority tend to believe that until one has reached the point of saturation vis-à-vis the worldly happiness and experiences, one should not make a commitment to God. The proponents of this theory firmly hold the view that in order to fully appreciate the bliss of God, one must first experience the happiness and pleasures of this world to the maximum. With this mindset, they tell themselves and advocate to others that commitment to God can wait until one has enjoyed worldly pleasures to the fullest. To say the least, God is much lower in the list of priorities they have set for themselves.

These exponents, while advocating experiencing of worldly happiness to one’s heart’s content and then making a commitment to God, declare unabashedly that embracing a spiritual lifestyle can be conveniently postponed to the evening of life. This is as if the spiritual way of life is a loathsome job which can be deferred to post-retirement life when nothing really worthwhile needs to be done.

The underlying assumption of this mindset is the philosophy that the primary purpose of life is to work towards satisfying one’s wishes and engaging in activities that match a person’s age and stage in life. Inherent in this view of life is the thought that only after the individual feels that his check list of achievements has been crossed off, he can choose to begin living a life of contemplation, introspection, and meditation. Still another assumption of this mindset is that one can’t fully appreciate what God has to offer until one has absorbed what the world has to offer.

There is no denying the fact that one cannot really devote oneself to spiritual work and evolution until one attains fair amount of certainty in his mind that there is nothing in the world that can match the bliss of God. On the face of it, it appears that there is nothing wrong in nurturing a strong urge to experience the boons of the world in order to fully and finally arrive at a conclusion as to what is better for him.

Despite his intellectual understanding, which tells him that the spiritual way of life is a better option, his restlessness continues until he has experienced the material world to the maximum. In the life of such people, there are times when they were extremely happy, had nothing to complain or grieve about; life favoured them to the maximum and offered them choicest blessings. Let these people recall to themselves these times of extreme merriment. Did the thought of God come to them in those times? Whether the realisation of God, who gave us our life’s desires, crossed our mind? How many can reply in the affirmative to this question? On the contrary, we remained lost in revelry and even the thought of God did not occur to us. We hardly spared a thought to understand the divine purpose of this precious human birth. Moreover, when these moments of happiness start to drift away, we use all possible means to regain them.

To the question why the thought of God does not come in good times, the saints have answered in a way which should serve as a warning to all who give first priority to worldly boons. They say that the Lord does not share his space with the world. The Lord, therefore, will not come to mind when worldly matters have consumed it.

Sufi saint Rabia is said to have experienced God whispering in her ear saying, ‘Be careful, lest you want Me to fulfill your material desires and take away your desire for Me. Material desires and the desire for Me cannot exist within the same heart.’ Similarly, when Lord Krishna asked Kunti, mother of Pandavas, to ask for a boon, she said, ‘Lord, all I desire is grief. Because only in grief, do I remember you; in happiness, you drift away from my thoughts.’

It is thus patently wrong to presume that one takes to the path of God only after he is fully satisfied with his life and his accomplishments. On the contrary, the longing for worldly boons drowns one deeper and deeper into the materialistic world.

Can we deny that the love for material objects conditions and pre-programs our mind to think that we have ample amount of time in the world to worship God but very little time to achieve our worldly desires? But scriptures say that human life is transitory. One never knows the time of his departure from this earth. What is certain about human life is its uncertain nature. Life appears and then vanishes like a mass of fine droplets of water in the atmosphere. The following lines from the Bible are enough to stir anybody’s conscience: ‘What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a while and then vanishes’ (James 4:14). Saint Kabir often uttered this couplet: ‘This is the time, this is the season. Even after spending millions, one cannot regain this precious human life, once it is lost.’

The pursuit of affluence does not lie in hoarding up materialistic affluence but the affluence of self-realization. The Bible says, ‘What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul.’ That is why, it is said that the wealth of the soul is the only true wealth. It is soul alone that raises us to nobility.

Worldly happiness may attain its zenith or its nadir, but only the happiness gained from God stabilises our restless heart and brings peace to our tormented soul. Pay heed to the scriptural advice- ‘Loving God is the only pleasure. Other delights turn bitter. What hurts the soul is to live without tasting the nectar of its own essence.’ Thus, rise above the idea of procrastinating worship of God and seriously consider reversing your priorities in life.

Shri Krishna Katha

Shri Krishna Katha

Today’s time is full of conflict and contradictions. At one end, a human being desires materialistic success, the one that give him money, power and fame and on the other end, clinging on to values, family, YOGA, meditation etc. Somewhere a human being wants best of both the worlds but end up compromising both. In such circumstances, DJJS, under the divine guidance of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji is putting their conscientious efforts to convey the path of ‘striking the balance amidst contradictions’.

Yet another attempt in the form of Shri Krishna Katha was made by DJJS which provided the rich resource of the ancient legacy to the masses and infused in them the inevitable divine endowment.

Enlightened the masses with their deep spiritual and scientific meanings. She beautifully touched every stage of Shri Krishna’s life elaborating on his role as a spiritual Guru and divine knowledge (Brahm Gyan) he bestowed on Arjuna amidst the chaos of battlefield. Complemented with shlokas from Bhagavata Purana, she elaborated on how every stage of Shri Krishna’s life starting from birth has been for the benefit of mankind. She forced audience to introspect and realize that each step in Lord Vishnu’s incarnation on Earth in the form of Lord Krishna is full of challenges and difficulties but why? Couldn’t Lord chose an easy life for HIMSELF? She made the audience think that each divine act of HIS was just and just for the benefit of the mankind.

Discussing on the glory of Satsang and need for a Guru in one’s life, Shri Krishna says, ‘It is only by association with the wise and the righteous, that many who were of a Rajasic or Tamasic nature have attained ME’. With the axe of Divine knowledge (imparted by Guru) sharpened by the one-pointed devotion acquired by the service and worship of a true Guru, one can steadily cut asunder this tree of Samsara.

The preacher stressed upon the need of Brahm Gyan in present day too. She stressed upon the fact that Arjuna was confused in battlefield but for today’s human being, each day is a battle field, whether it is work, home, travelling on roads etc. and so a spiritual intervention is much more needed. Audiences were mesmerized with the divine thoughts and bhajans performed from time to time during the program. They also got to know about the Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) and its mission for Global Peace through Brahm Gyan.

Akhand Gyan - Monthly Magazine

Akhand Gyan - Monthly Magazine

Ten years ago, Akhand Gyan was born and shaped by the Holy hands of His Highness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji. The purpose was grand and magnificent in itself- to bring to light the real definition of 'spirituality' and wipe off the plethora of misconceptions dwelling in the minds of theists as well as the non-believers of God. It is clearly evident that the society has today lost its luster. It has moved miles away from the resort of its maker, union with whom was its prime goal. This dreariness accounts to the absence of the fundamental attribute from its structure– Brahm Gyan! And, this is what my purpose is- to bring back the lost luster and infuse each life with divinity through the message of Brahm Gyan so that every soul is blessed and Peace reigns supreme.

Brahm Gyan is the sole basis for the making of a peaceful world. And a Poorna Guru alone can bestow this foundational knowledge… I live to these profound words of my Master. And, since the day of my inception, I have set forth on a grand mission to fulfill…to live it in my every page, my every corner, my every single word, i.e. to spread the significance of Guru and Brahm Gyan.

  • Raising a voice against ill practices prevailing in the society!
  • Providing complete nourishment to body-mind-spirit!
  • Containing lucid and richly interesting contents which tickle the Real You!
  • Guiding your foot-steps to success and satiation!
  • Highlighting the transcendental essence (Brahm Gyan) of all scriptures!

MAGICAL CODE TO SHOO AWAY FAILURES & DIFFICULTIES

What is the difference between a ‘champion’ and an ‘average person’?”- This question was once asked to an English football player, Tom Hopkins. An apt and crisp reply came: “The single most important difference between champion achievers and average people is their ability to handle rejection and failure.”

OVER-THINKING SHOULD BE OVER FOREVER!

Throw a glance at fig. A. Oops! In this total mess, are you able to find where these arrows are heading towards?

Bhajan Sandhya

The event of “Bhajan Sandhya” was the supreme endeavor of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) to channelize the true devotion, spiritualize the minds and hearts of audience through series of divine devotional bhajans based on the supreme eternal music connecting each souls with the almighty.

Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) - a non- profit, non- government and a leading spiritual organization, headed and founded by His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, organized an enchanting divine evening program of Bhajan Sandhya.

Someone has beautifully said:

True, indeed! Such is the power of the pious name in each breath, which can easily wash away all the negativity and sins and free us from all our slavery and lead us to the path of salvation, just by remembering the holy name of God, playing as an eternal rhythm within our own breaths.

The program was initiated with the holy, devoted prayer at the lotus feet of Lord and then series of melodious and divinely spiritual bhajans dominated the hearts of the audience and congregators. Such an evening was served with the purpose of bringing the new beginning of spiritual journey from the very next day’s morning.

A prayer acts as a holy bridge to connect the human’s soul with the divinity of Lord. Any prayer if performed with the inner yearning towards God and, with a sincere heart leads that devotee towards the path of righteousness, positivity, eternal peace and establishes 24*7 divine connection between him and his Lord. Piousness and truthfulness in approach can easily melt the soft heart of Lord. Also, it’s said that:

A divine combination of blissful series along with their deep meanings won the hearts of audience and didn’t failed to indulge them into the divinely grace of Lord.

Team spirituality

If you ask an internet savvy youth working in a well known MNC what Team Work is, invariably the answer would be– The process of working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal. This is a good definition of team work but not complete. We need to go beyond the conference room definition of a team to understand the meaning of team work.

Truly speaking, practical spirituality is the sole answer to the above problem. When we start taking small steps on the path of spirituality, ego weans away and gradually the inner power becomes stronger. Spirituality makes an individual resort to tolerance and constructive criticism. And, when such individuals come together as a team, they do not land up in blame games in the event of flaws. One may note that practical spirituality is nothing but meditating upon one's inner light revealed by a 'true' spiritual mentor.

Team work demands respect for team members. In fact, respect is something natural, as all individuals respect themselves. When we say, I respect you, it means I trust you and what you say or do carries value. Each member in the team needs to value the other's words and deeds. This way mutual respect and trust are established in the team. Each member in the team feels valued and this ensures best output for the team as each member puts in his best.

Yes of course, it is possible! To lead us to such a state of eternal bliss, spiritual teachers invite us from time to time. Mahatma Buddha used to tell his disciples often, ‘Practice peace!’ Sufi Saint Rumi proclaimed, “Do not entangle into the prison of fear. Practice Silence—get yourself liberated from the imprisonment of frightening thoughts.Practice Silence.”

Remember, sealing the lips and abstaining from talking don’t mean you are silent. “Manah Mrityum Maunam” – When the mind dies, silence sprouts! Death of the mind means: controlling the mind to the extent of thoughtlessness. A state in which no useless or disturbing thought is permitted to evolve! Through this thoughtless or say mindful state, the fountain of bliss emerges!

To reach that state, genuine Spiritual Gurus have reiterated that one and only Eternal Technique (Brahm Gyan), which is known with different names. Lord Krishna named it “Rajayoga.” Sage Patanjali gave it a more academic expression by saying, “Yog Chit Vritti Nirodh.” Upanishads proclaimed it as “Atma Gyan.”
